Special forces are also known as special operation forces. These are basically military units consisting of well-trained and professional soldiers who perform unconventional, typically insecure missions for a nation’s political, economic or military purposes. The trend of having special forces started back in 20th century. There are now numerous special operation forces working all over the world. The GIGN (National Gendarmerie Intervention Group) is a special operation unit of the French Armed Forces.
