Special forces are also known as special operation forces. These are basically military units consisting of well-trained and professional soldiers who perform unconventional, typically insecure missions for a nation’s political, economic or military purposes. The GIGN (National Gendarmerie Intervention Group) is a special operation unit of the French Armed Forces.
