10. Hijri New Year

Hijri New Year marks the beginning of the New Islamic year. It starts from 1st of Muharram. The followers of Gregorian calendar love to make celebrations of the New Year on 1st of January. Just like this, the Muslims celebrate the New Islamic year in the month of Muharram. According to Islamic teachings, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) named the 1st Month Muharram as a Holy month, in which keeping fast and praying before Allah for the first few days is mandatory.

9. Shab-e-Miraj

It is one of the most remarkable and Holy nights because of having talked about in Quran. On this night, according to Islam, Prophet Muhammad (SAW) traveled on Buraq (flying horse) to the farthest mosque. After the prayer, Prophet (PBUH) was taken to the heavens, and he stood before Allah for the first time and had conversation with Him. On this night, five prayers were gifted to the Prophet.

8. Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi

Eid-Milad-Un-Nabi is celebrated on 12th Rabi-Ul-Awwal. This is the holy day when Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) were born. Some nice practices are done by the Muslims, especially most of them held Milad at their homes in this month. It is considered to be a way of celebration and get closer to Almighty Allah. 7. Hajj

Hajj is another big and major event of Islam. The literal meaning of Hajj is “to make a journey”. It is the Pilgrimage to Makkah, and is one of the main pillars of Islam. Muslims travel to Saudi Arab to perform Hajj, and it is performed in four days from 8th to 12th. Pilgrims wear Ihram, and are bound to take seven rounds of Khana Kaabaa. It takes them about 20 days to fulfill all the requirements of Hajj.

6. Nuzul Al-Qur’an

5. Laylat-al-Qadr

This is a Holy night, rendered as the Night of measure, values and powers in English. Laylat-al-Qadr is to be found in five odd nights of last ten fasts of Ramadan (meaning the nights; 21, 23, 25, 27, 29). Muslims are strong believers that on this night, the verses of Quran were revealed before Prophet Muhammad from Allah. It took Allah about 23 years to send the whole Quran to the earth, and the angel Hazrat Gibrael (A.S) was responsible for bringing its verses one-by-one. Muslims celebrate this event and offer prayers and recite the Holy Quran whole night.

4. Shab-e-Barat

Sha’ban is 8th Holy Month of Islam. 15th of Sha’ban is called as Nisf of Sha’ban, and the preceding night is named as Shab-e-Barat. On this night, celebrations are made and the Muslims offer special prayers, as well as recite Quran the whole night. This night is regarded as the “Night of Records”. Muslims believe that Allah Almighty writes the fate of people on this night for the next whole year, and a tree in Jannah sheds the leaves in this night.

3. Eid-Ul-Fitr

It is one of the major events of Islam, celebrated the world over. It is held on 1st of Shawaal. The literal meaning of Eid-Ul-Fitr is ‘Festival of Breaking of Fast’. 2. Eid-Ul-Adha

The literal meaning of Eid-Ul-Adha is Festival of Sacrifice. This event is celebrated to remind the glorious sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.S). On Allah’s order, he was ready to sacrifice his son, Hazrat Ismail (A.S). It was just a test from Allah, and upon the sacrifice, Allah saved his son and a lamp was sacrificed automatically. All the Muslims, on this day, sacrifice animals to please Almighty Allah. Then the meat of these animals is distributed among relatives and needy individuals.

1. Ramadhan-Al-Mubarak

This is the 9th Holy month of Islam. Muslims keep fasts in this month, for about 29-30 days. This is purposed to please Allah and get to know how the poor individuals live their lives in miserable condition. It is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. From Dawn until Dusk, Muslims are not allowed to eat or drink anything.
